Frequently asked questions

No special permission is needed to capture clipboard content. If clips aren't appearing, check these things: (1) Make sure L2Cache is running — you should see its icon in the menu bar. (2) Check that the app you're copying from isn't on your exclusion list — go to Settings → Privacy → App Exclusions. (3) Try quitting and relaunching L2Cache.
Selecting a clip (or pressing ) copies it to your clipboard. Switch back to your app and press ⌘V to paste. L2Cache puts the content on your clipboard — you're always in control of where it goes.
All data is stored locally on your Mac at ~/Library/Application Support/L2cache/. Nothing is ever sent to any server. Images are stored in the images/ subfolder. You can view or delete this folder at any time.
Apple Intelligence requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) on Apple Silicon with Apple Intelligence enabled in System Settings. If you're on an earlier macOS or Intel Mac, L2Cache falls back to rule-based categorisation automatically.
L2Cache automatically detects: API keys (OpenAI, GitHub, Stripe, AWS, Slack, and more), credit card numbers, PEM private keys and certificates, US Social Security Numbers, WiFi credentials, and secret assignments in config or environment files (e.g. API_KEY=abc123). When detected, the item is saved but marked as hidden — the content is locked behind Touch ID or your login password. Only you can unlock and copy it back.
Go to Settings → Privacy → App Exclusions → click the + button and select the app. L2Cache will stop capturing anything copied from that app. Common uses: password managers, banking apps, or any app with sensitive data.
Yes. One licence covers personal use on all your Macs. Clipboard history is not synced between devices — each Mac has its own local history. iCloud sync is planned for a future version.
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and select your L2Cache purchase. Apple typically processes refunds within a few days.
